Lottery Scam Emails

If you receive an email informing you that you have won a prize in a lottery that you don't remember entering, it is most likely a scam email designed to fleece you out of an administration fee. These emails are typically called 'Nigerian 419' scams (where this type of scam originated) and are named after the relevent section of the Nigerian Legal Code which deals with these 'Advanced Fee Fraud' scams.

We have compiled a list of typical emails into a searchable database for you to browse. If you have received an email, please enter any reference number into the box below to see if anyone else has received the same email. If you have a new one, please click here to contact us and let us know so we can include it here.
