Greeks Set To Join Lottery Bidding
23 Oct 2006
Intralot, the Greece based international lottery operator, is expected to enter the race for the UK national lottery licence.
The only other known bidders for the UK lottery licence are the incumbent Camelot, which has operated the lottery since it started in 1994, and Sugal & Damani, a company operating in various Indian states.
The next ten-year licence, to start in 2009, will be awarded in August next year. The National Lottery Commission, understood to have held talks with Intralot, is keen for there to be a serious challenge to Camelot, partly to allay Sir Richard Branson's concerns in the wake of his two failed bids for the licence.
