Trinny Gave Me A Lotto Style
13 Oct 2006
Lucky lottery winner Rachel Bryan wants to splash her cash on a new wardrobe, but doesn't know where to start.
The 35-year-old, former trainee solicitor, from Ripley, Derbyshire never wears dresses and skirts and desperately needed kicking out of her style rut.
We went behind-the-scenes of her reader makeover:
I was lucky enough to win £2.6 million last January - but I still haven't gone out on a spending spree as I haven't a clue what suits me and what clothes to buy.
So I decided to ask Trinny and Susannah for some help.
I used to wear suits during the day at the office but since my windfall I’ve given up my job and need better clothes for day-to-day living.
I’m 5ft 4ins, size 14-16 and normally wear jeans and jogging bottoms - I hate my legs and tummy so I never wear skirts or dresses, in fact I didn’t even own a skirt before my makeover.
So when Trinny suggested I try a longer skirt with high boots I was totally dreading it.
When I saw her come towards me with the skirt, internally I was shouting ‘not that skirt!’, I just didn’t think I had the legs for it.
But when she paired it with the boots I had to agree it worked. Then they matched the skirt with this beautiful fitted, grey short-sleeved top.
Again, I would never have chosen such a slinky top. I usually wear a long jumper to cover my bum, but the girls wanted to emphasise my waist.
I didn’t even think I had a waist before I tried it on! But yet again they managed to surprise me and I actually really liked it.
All of their advice was fantastic, showing me that I can wear these outfits – I haven’t hit the shops yet, but now I know what to look for when I go.
Trinny says I shouldn’t wear V-neck tops, which would make me look like a barmaid, I should wear necklines that go straight across instead.
I’ve cleared out the baggy jumpers, they're only for dog walking now.
