Lotto Winners Expected Bad Luck
18 Oct 2006
A retired couple from the Black Country are celebrating after winning £9m on the lottery with a ticket bought on Friday the 13th.
Irene and Ronald Jones, from Bilston, said they were actually expecting seven years of bad luck after a mirror at home fell off the wall and smashed.
Mr Jones, 75, bought the ticket while shopping and won them £9,355,603 in the triple Lotto rollover on Saturday.
The retired shoe machine operators said they planned to buy a "dream bungalow".
Mrs Jones, 69, said news of the win was still sinking in and that she and her husband were "shell shocked".
She said they had worked hard all their lives, bringing up three children in the council house where they still live and were now looking forward to providing for their six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
