£105k Awaits Lewisham Lotto Winner
26 Jul 2006
National Lottery players in the Lewisham area are being urged to check and double-check their old Lotto tickets, as someone is sitting on an amazing £105,963 prize and may not even know it.
The search is now on to locate the owner of the winning ticket who matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on Saturday 1 July 2006 – the winning numbers for that draw were: 18, 28, 33, 37, 39, 42 and the bonus number was 15. The lucky ticket-holder has until 5.30pm on 28 December 2006 to come forward and make their claim.
If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the prize claim deadline, then the prize money, plus all the interest generated, will go to the Good Causes – adding to the £18.6 billion already raised through sales of lottery tickets since the launch of The National Lottery in November 1994.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Football fans will remember the date as it was unfortunately when England was knocked out of the World Cup by Portugal. It might be that with all the disappointment, somebody may have forgotten to check their tickets – this is why we’re urging everyone to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing Lotto ticket could be hiding.
“Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa – someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune! We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their prize in time.”
To jog Lotto players’ memories, on 1 July, Over the Hedge, featuring the voices of Bruce Willis and Gary Shandling, had just opened at the cinema – while Nelly Furtado was topping the charts with Maneater.
Closer to home, the Limelight Gallery in Lewisham was staging the Jeremy Wallace exhibition, Travelling Spaces, while audiences at the Broadway Arts Theatre were enjoying a performance of Fame.
