Neighbours Pocket £250K Lotto Win
03 Jan 2007
Two neighbours in a West Cumbrian village are celebrating a happy new year after banking a £250,000 lottery win.
The neighbours in Great Clifton, one of whom is an elderly woman who wants to remain anonymous, won on the Thunderball on December 20.
They picked all five numbers and the Thunderball to land the £250,000 top prize. The winning mumbers were 1, 5, 22, 24, 30 and Thunderball 3.
The woman, who will receive a £125,000 share, says she is going to spend some of her winnings on her family.
Workington is already recognised as one of the luckiest places to buy lottery tickets.
In October, a mystery winner scooped more than £100,000 in the National Lottery’s Euromillions prize draw. They bought their ticket in the town centre’s Richard James Newsagents, dubbed the luckiest Lotto shop in Cumbria. It is also one of the top performing independent lottery shops in the country.
It is not known where the Great Clifton pair bought their winning ticket.
