Winner Staying Silent
A UK ticketholder who won the £17.8m top prize in last Friday's EuroMillions draw has decided not to reveal their identity.
The winner matched five numbers and two lucky stars in Friday's draw to become the UK's biggest winner in the pan-European lottery draw.
However, lottery operator Camelot was unable to reveal any details about the new multi-millionaire.
A spokesman said: "The person who came forward is the genuine winner but they have decided not to take publicity which means no more information is available about them.
"The process of validating the claim has been completed. The person has received their winning cheque."
The winning cheque for £17,804,197.80 beat the UK's previous largest EuroMillions win, which went to Marion Richardson from Gateshead for winning £16,752,144.80 in April 2004.
Mother-of-six Dolores McNamara, of Limerick in Ireland, won £77m on EuroMillions last July.
EuroMillions is played in the UK, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, France, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland.
The winning numbers in Friday night's draw were 16, 26, 34, 35 and 49. The Lucky Star numbers were 2 and 6.
Tickets sold in the UK raise money for good causes in the UK.
